I really really loved this story by Madhuri Shekar and found it to be incredibly engaging. In the story, we follow a young, independent woman struggling to find her way in love and in her career. Her mother, a staunch critic of her decisions to put love on the back burner as she attempts to grow in her career, is a constant friend and nagging witness to her perceived shortcomings. Her mother mercilessly sets her up on blind dates or tries to orchestrate arranged marriages with well off families in their hometown of Delhi, India. After a sour meeting with yet another bachelor, she meets another man in the same coffee shop that happens to grab her attention and soon, her heart. While her mother is finally happy to see her daughter with someone, she has this feeling her mate is a dark soul. The mother’s history is coming to haunt her and she fears her daughter may be caught in the cross hairs.
This story was intriguing and fast paced. I loved the characters and the Audible version was exceptionally done. Great listen for a short drive or while cooking. For readers that like suspense, secrets and family ties.
