Wow. This is a great story about sisters who have secrets and try to find a way to deal with each other when there’s so much bad blood and misunderstandings in their past. Roz Nay is an author I haven’t had the pleasure of reading before but I am interested in picking up her bestseller, Our Little Secrets, now that I’ve read how twisty and diabolical her novels can be. I suspect this novel will also get to bestseller status since it is an enthralling and fast paced, psychological drama.
The story follows Alexandra “Alex” and her sister, Ruth, as they come together one evening as Ruth is running from an abusive, drug dealing boyfriend. Soon, they find out that Ruth is pregnant and Alex allows her to stay with her and her boyfriend to be safe while pregnant. Alex and Ruth have had an estranged relationship due to something that happened in their childhood that they are both keeping hidden away. Ruth is the oldest and is the protector while Alex is impulsive and persuasive. The story takes on a life of its own as Ruth gets closer to having the baby and her ex-boyfriend finds his way into all their lives.
This story is filled with twisted psychology and the underlying hope for sisterly bonding. Recommended for readers who will enjoy psychological domestic thrillers.
