If you aren’t reading this series…you are missing out on one of the most rich storylines and diverse set of characters. Volume 8 delivers again with its high impact, edge of your seat and subliminally socio-political story lines. You follow Alana and Marko (and family) as they deal with an unfortunate turn of events for their family. Some pretty heavy decisions are made during this volume. We also find ourselves with Squire, Ghus (the killer cutie) and the journalist who have been left behind on a planet without food. I wish there was a recap of the previous story of how they got there because its been a while since I read Volume 7 and felt that I lost a bit of detail with these secondary characters. You also see, The Will, again and as usual he is in big trouble that will likely cause more people to get killed. Overall, this was exceptional writing and the imagery is well, fantastic to say the least and incredibly creative. But this is nothing new for Brian and Fiona’s work. If you’re new to the series, start at Volume 1 as this is a very complex storyline with lots of twists and turns. Go ahead and buy all eight volumes because this is a classic and you won’t want to wait for the next volumes. Needless to say, I’m an avid collector and can’t wait to go back a re-read the entire series as one.
