November is Black Book Month!

November is going to be Black Book Month! Simply because why not? I read so many books then look at my shelf and realize that I have not dedicated any time to black authors equally to those of others. So I’m changing that and dedicating the full month of November to read books by black authors or with black issues. If you are like me and start to realize you’re lacking in diverse authors, characters and issues, then make November Black Book Month! So my November reads are:

– Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
– Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
– Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson
– The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

This is a pretty hardy list of very mainstream black authors that cover a range of issues from immigration, civil rights, African culture in different styles. If you’re interested in reading along with me, you can order the books using my Book Depository link and get free shipping in time to start with me next month.

Not interested in reading along? Well follow my book reviews via email on and check out what I think about these novels and others. Also, share this post to get others involved in diversifying their reading and push for November to be Black Book Month!
